In industry news last week, Unilever’s Beauty division helped boost profits amid a backlash over its plans to trim ESG efforts and focus on core growth strategies.

On the regulation front, industry members welcomed the European Parliament’s vote to revise the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemicals amid criticism of “slow progress” with regulations.

Jungbunzlauer demonstrated its sustainable skin care, emphasizing that “emollients are an important component in sunscreen because they impact the direct consumer experience.”


Lubrizol showed us its new biodegradable polymer with “honey-like flow” for creamy foam cosmetics, while Symrise revealed a class of antimicrobial preservation for cosmetics “unknown to the market” and Ajinomoto unveiled plastic-free sustainable beads to replace microplastics.


Finally, we previewed Supplier’s Day in New York with beauty innovations that included pearlescent pigments, fermented mushrooms and ginseng peptides.
